Severin Bitch

Notes of a twenty-something, queer, gender-confused, FAAB-ulous, PoC, femme bitch.

Oh my…  I haven’t been this amused in awhile.

Pop quiz: Who's going to educate people if not the "oppressed"? Your "oppressors"? A book, maybe? lolololololol asked by guyisart

Uh, there’s Google.  Loads of other people have written about these topics, so just because I don’t want to educate you doesn’t mean there aren’t other (oppressed) folks who aren’t willing to.  People write academic articles and personal blogs about these issues, so not taking the time to look them up is sheer laziness on your part.

hey! i was browsing the okcupid tag and i saw your post. and while i agree that it is a bit messed up to not want to date out of your own race, it doesn't always mean it's racist. sure, some people are racist and prefer to date their own race, but for many people, it's all about preference. some people just aren't attracted to others outside of their race, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are racist. i'm not speaking for myself, though, i find many people of different races to be sexy :P asked by theresnorevolution

i have mixed feelings about that.  while i understand that it can be a matter of preference, it is also society’s influence on us that make us prefer, say, white folks over others.  even as a person of color, i’ve spent a long time only wanting to date white guys because i couldn’t find any other ethnicity attractive.  that was my own form of internalized racism.  i’m still working to combat against my own internalized racism, so when i see something like that on OkC, it just encourages those negative feelings about myself.  so i can understand where they’re coming from, but it still makes me upset.

When someone’s cute on OkCupid, but then you see that they would prefer to date someone of their own ethnicity (white).

Not ALL cis people :)

Oh my God go fuck yourself

Hey I just met you but…  EDUCATE ME ON ALL THE ISSUES.

There are always going to be people who are going to ask more of you than you are able to give.  Just because you are not emotionally able to handle certain situations doesn’t mean you care any less about the issue.  Maybe it’s all you can do to keep yourself afloat, and that’s okay.  Self-preservation is a form of social activism.  If other people don’t understand that, that’s not your problem.
